Embrace Imperfection

Perfection is subjective and arbitrary—let's focus on what truly matters instead. The real value lies in the process itself, in the act of creating and sharing, even if it is imperfect.

Hey there! I'm Joshua, also known as "OldSoul" at various digital spaces or past workplaces. My passion for writing goes way back to middle school: I've penned enough content over the years to fill numerous books. However, most of it remains unpublished due to my perfectionist tendencies.

This perfectionism has been a roadblock, preventing me from maintaining a blog or completing a published work. It's even hindered me from pursuing something meaningful and larger than myself—a flaw rooted in pride (but we can delve into that another time). Right now, I want to acknowledge this and initiate a positive change. And guess what? You're witnessing one of those changes as you read this.

I'm learning to internalize two "mantras," so to speak:
"Progress, not Perfection," and "Done is Better than Perfect."
Catchy to repeat? Yes.
Easy to live out? Not. At. All.

Discovering Value in the Imperfect

Nevertheless, I've made the decision to start something that isn't perfect and accept that it may never be "perfect." After all, what does "perfect" really mean? It's subjective and arbitrary for each of us. Let's focus on what truly matters instead.

I'm coming to realize that the genuine value lies in the process itself, in the act of creating and sharing my thoughts and ideas with others. It's about the journey, the growth, and the connections forged along the way.

Stepping Beyond the Comfortable

So, here I am, stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing imperfection. I want to share my writings, thoughts, and experiences with others, even when I think they're incomplete or not ready to be shared. It's a way for me to break free from the chains of perfectionism and allow creativity to flow freely, without the fear of judgment or failure.

Creating an Authentic Space

I envision this site as a place of authenticity, a place where I can express myself and connect with like-minded individuals who resonate with my thoughts. It's not about impressing or gaining recognition, but about nurturing a community of understanding and support.

I intend to write about a variety of topics that pique my interest, ranging from personal growth and self-reflection to literature, philosophy, and everything in between. My goal is to inspire and provoke thought, to challenge conventional ideas, and to offer my unique perspective on life's complexities.

The Value in Open Dialogue

While I don't have all the answers, I believe that open and honest dialogue is a more helpful way to learn and grow together. Open and honest also means that I might be wrong, have incomplete information, or just lack some perspective that could bring a more complete picture. My posts may get updated over time as I learn and grow in my knowledge and experiences. I wholeheartedly encourage readers to share their thoughts, insights, and journeys with me in return. This will enrich the conversation and enhance the overall experience.

So, whether you're a fellow writer, an avid reader, or someone simply seeking a little inspiration or connection, I invite you to embark on this imperfect—but profoundly meaningful—journey with me. Let's explore our thoughts and embrace the beauty that lies within imperfection.
